TL;DR: This analysis has identified priority sites for reptile conservation and completes the conservation assessment of terrestrial vertebrates in Madagascar which will facilitate conservation planning, monitoring and wise-decision making.
Journal ArticleDOI
Species diversity of Amphibia, Reptilia and Lipotyphla (Mammalia) at Ambolokopatrika, a rainforest between the Anjanaharibe-Sud and Marojejy massifs, NE Madagascar
TL;DR: The biodiversity of Ambolokopatrika is comparable to those of other analysed sites, and this stresses the value of this forest in assuring biotic exchange between Anjanaharibe-Sud and Marojejy reserves.
Journal ArticleDOI
Natural history and larval morphology of Boophis occidentalis (Anura: Mantellidae: Boophinae) provide new insights into the phylogeny and adaptive radiation of endemic Malagasy frogs
TL;DR: The acontinuous timing of reproduction and large egg number may be secondary adaptations that allowed the species to colonize arid regions of western Madagascar.
Journal ArticleDOI
The influence of riverine barriers on phylogeographic patterns of Malagasy reed frogs (Heterixalus).
Philip-Sebastian Gehring,Maciej Pabijan,Maciej Pabijan,Jasmin E. Randrianirina,Frank Glaw,Miguel Vences +5 more
TL;DR: Most of the major intraspecific lineages of reed frogs show signs of a rather recent population expansion, indicating that the influence of rivers on the primary divergence of phylogroups is probably minor in these frogs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Patterns of amphibian and reptile diversity at Berara Forest (Sahamalaza Peninsula), NW Madagascar
TL;DR: The survey provided new records of Aglyptodactylus securifer and Heterixalus luteostriatus, further north than hitherto known, and encountered specimens of the treefrog Boophis albi‐labris displayed characters typical for the subspecies occidentalis, resulting in a substantial range extension.
