Journal ArticleDOI

Predicting species distributions from small numbers of occurrence records: A test case using cryptic geckos in Madagascar

TL;DR: A novel jackknife validation approach is developed and tested to assess the ability to predict species occurrence when fewer than 25 occurrence records are available and the minimum sample sizes required to yield useful predictions remain difficult to determine.
Journal ArticleDOI

The conservation status of the world's reptiles

Monika Böhm, +243 more
TL;DR: The results provide the first analysis of the global conservation status and distribution patterns of reptiles and the threats affecting them, highlighting conservation priorities and knowledge gaps which need to be addressed urgently to ensure the continued survival of the world’s reptiles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Predicting distributions of known and unknown reptile species in Madagascar

TL;DR: It is concluded that ecological niche modelling using recent locality records and readily available environmental coverage data provides informative biogeographical data for poorly known tropical landscapes, and offers innovative potential for the discovery of unknown distributional areas and unknown species.
