Comparison of endoscopic and microscopic removal of pituitary adenomas: single-surgeon experience and the learning curve.
Bert W. O'Malley,M. Sean Grady,Brandon C Gabel,Marc Cohen,Gregory G. Heuer,Jared M. Pisapia,Leif-Erik Bohman,Jason M. Leibowitz +7 more
TL;DR: Outcomes after either purely endoscopic resection or traditional microscope-aided resection for resection of pituitary lesions of the sella turcica are compared to determine the learning curve associated with a surgical team converting to endoscopic techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI
False-positive reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction screening for SARS-CoV-2 in the setting of urgent head and neck surgery and otolaryngologic emergencies during the pandemic: Clinical implications.
Andrew P. Katz,Francisco J. Civantos,Zoukaa Sargi,Jason M. Leibowitz,Elizabeth A. Nicolli,Donald T. Weed,Alexander E. Moskovitz,Alyssa M. Civantos,David M. Andrews,Octavio Martinez,Giovana R. Thomas +10 more
TL;DR: No reports describe falsepositive reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT‐PCR) for novel coronavirus in preoperative screening.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term Functional Outcomes of Total Glossectomy With or Without Total Laryngectomy
Derrick T. Lin,Bharat B. Yarlagadda,Rosh K. V. Sethi,Allen L. Feng,Yelizaveta Shnayder,Levi G. Ledgerwood,Jason Diaz,Parul Sinha,Matthew M. Hanasono,Peirong Yu,Roman J. Skoracki,Timothy Lian,Urjeet A. Patel,Jason M. Leibowitz,Nicholas Purdy,Heather M. Starmer,Jeremy D. Richmon +16 more
TL;DR: Comparing various total glossectomy defect reconstructive techniques used by multiple institutions and to identify factors that may lead to improved long-term speech and swallowing function found laryngeal preservation was associated with favorable speech outcomes such as the retained ability to verbally communicate and higher levels of speech intelligibility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Surgical Techniques for Zenker’s Diverticulum A Comparative Analysis
Jason M. Leibowitz,Christopher Fundakowski,Marianne Abouyared,Andrew Rivera,Jason R. Rudman,Kaming Lo,Donald T. Weed,Francisco J. Civantos +7 more
TL;DR: There is no single “best” approach to Zenker’s diverticulum and the open, laser, and stapler methods are equally effective and have similar complication rates.
Journal ArticleDOI
P16 and human papillomavirus in sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma.
Erin R. Cohen,Caitlin Coviello,Simon A. Menaker,Ernesto Martinez-Duarte,Carmen Gomez,Kaming Lo,Darcy A. Kerr,Elizabeth J. Franzmann,Jason M. Leibowitz,Zoukaa Sargi +9 more
TL;DR: Improved survival in both the p16+ and HPV+ groups and a positive association between p16 and HPV are demonstrated and there may be similar potential for modifying classification for HPV+ sinonasal SCC.
