Energy efficiency of fibre reinforced soil formation at small element scale: Laboratory and numerical investigation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explore the aspects related to the energy consumption for the compaction of unreinforced and fibre reinforced samples fabricated in the laboratory. But, they focus on the evolution of the void ratio distribution, re-arrangement of soil particles, mobilisation of stresses in the fibres, and the development of the fibre orientation distribution during the stages of compaction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental and numerical assessment of a cubical sample produced by pluviation

TL;DR: A pluviation device for the fabrication of cubical samples of granular materials has been recently developed as discussed by the authors, where the granular material is pluviated under gravitational loading through a rectangular Pe...

Experimental investigation of wave propagation in three dimensions in unbounded particulate assemblies

TL;DR: In this paper, a Cubical Cell Apparatus with bender-extender piezoceramic elements fitted in all six faces is used so that wave propagation velocities of an analogue granular material can be determined.
