SCORTEN: A Severity-of-Illness Score for Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis
Sylvie Bastuji-Garin,Nathalie Fouchard,M Bertocchi,Jean-Claude Roujeau,Jean Revuz,Pierre Wolkenstein +5 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the risk of death of toxic epidermal necrolysis patients can be accurately predicted by the toxic epidescent severity-of-illness score, and the Simplified Acute Physiology Score and burn score appear to be less adequate.
Journal ArticleDOI
European S1 guideline for the treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa/acne inversa
Christos C. Zouboulis,N. Desai,Lennart Emtestam,Robert E. Hunger,Demetris Ioannides,István Juhász,Jan Lapins,Lukasz Matusiak,Errol P. Prens,Jean Revuz,S Schneider-Burrus,Jacek C Szepietowski,H.H. van der Zee,Gregor B.E. Jemec +13 more
TL;DR: Hidradenitis suppurativa/acne inversa is a chronic, inflammatory, recurrent, debilitating skin disease of the hair follicle that usually presents after puberty with painful, deep‐seated, inflamed lesions in the apocrine gland‐bearing areas of the body.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence and factors associated with hidradenitis suppurativa: Results from two case-control studies
Jean Revuz,Florence Canoui-Poitrine,Pierre Wolkenstein,C. Viallette,Germaine Gabison,Florence Pouget,Florence Poli,Ousmane Faye,Jean-Claude Roujeau,Genevieve Bonnelye,Jean-Jacques Grob,Sylvie Bastuji-Garin +11 more
TL;DR: Hidradenitis suppurativa is a common disease, frequently associated with smoking and being overweight, and associated factors, including smoking, body mass index and associated risk factors are identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Toxic epidermal necrolysis. Clinical findings and prognosis factors in 87 patients.
Jean Revuz,Dominique Penso,Jean-Claude Roujeau,Jean-Claude Guillaume,Christopher Rowland Payne,Janine Wechsler,René Touraine +6 more
TL;DR: A multivariant analysis showed that three of these prognosis factors are of paramount importance, namely: age, area of necrolysis, and serum urea level.
Journal ArticleDOI
Randomised comparison of thalidomide versus placebo in toxic epidermal necrolysis
Pierre Wolkenstein,Jacques Latarjet,Jean-Claude Roujeau,Corinne Duguet,Sylvie Boudeau,Loöc Vaillant,Michel Maignan,Marie-Hélène Schuhmacher,Brigitte Milpied,Alain Pilorget,Hélène Bocquet,Christian Brun-Buisson,Jean Revuz +12 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that thalidomide is detrimental in TEN, possibly because of a paradoxical enhancement of TNF-alpha production.
