Trap-State Distributions and Carrier Transport in Pure and Mixed-Phase TiO2 : Influence of Contacting Solvent and Interphasial Electron Transfer
TL;DR: In this article, the room-temperature photoluminescence spectra of nanocrystalline TiO2 in the anatase and rutile phases and in mixed-phase samples obtained commercially (Degussa P25) and by thermal treatment of anatase were reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Betalain pigments for dye-sensitized solar cells
Dongshe Zhang,Suzanne M. Lanier,Jonathan A. Downing,Jason L. Avent,Jason L. Avent,June Lum,Jeanne L. McHale +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a dye-sensitized solar cell based on natural betalain pigments from red beet roots is described, where a photoanode was fabricated from nanocrystalline TiO 2 on transparent conductive glass, treated with ethanolic HCl solution, then sensitized with raw beet extract or a betanin solution from which yellow betaxanthin pigments were removed by column chromatography.
Journal ArticleDOI
Location Of Hole And Electron Traps On Nanocrystalline Anatase TiO2
Candy C. Mercado,Fritz J. Knorr,Jeanne L. McHale,Shirin M. Usmani,Andrew S. Ichimura,Laxmikant V. Saraf +5 more
TL;DR: The defect photoluminescence from TiO2 nanoparticles in the anatase phase is reported for nanosheets which expose predominantly (001) surfaces and compared to that from conventional anatase nanoparticles which expose mostly (101) surfaces as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Counterion-Dependent Excitonic Spectra of Tetra(p-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin Aggregates in Acidic Aqueous Solution
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present visible absorption, light-scattering, and resonance Raman spectra of TCPP diacid in its monomer, dimer, and aggregated forms and attempt to understand the structural basis for TCPP aggregation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of TiCl4 treatment on surface defect photoluminescence in pure and mixed-phase nanocrystalline TiO2.
TL;DR: The results suggest that TiCl4 treatment of mixed-phase TiO2 may result in a surface layer of rutile and that radiative recombination of electron-hole pairs formed in the bulk anatase region of nanocrystallites occurs after electrons migrate to newly formed rutiles surfaces.
