Journal ArticleDOI

Novel 21-amino steroids as potent inhibitors of iron-dependent lipid peroxidation.

TL;DR: Two representative compounds from a novel chemical series of potent inhibitors of lipid peroxidation are described and one of the compounds, U74500A, may act as a membrane localized chelator of iron.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxidation of ferrous iron during peroxidation of lipid substrates

TL;DR: The results demonstrate that oxidation of Fe2+ in incubations containing lipid substrates is linked to and accelerated by peroxidation of those substrates and suggest that oxidation in the presence of lipid or H2O2 creates forms of iron which differ from those formed during simple Fe2- autoxidation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chloride channel expression with the tandem construct of alpha 6-beta 2 GABAA receptor subunit requires a monomeric subunit of alpha 6 or gamma 2.

TL;DR: Data from a tandem construct of the α6 and β2 subunit cDNAs are consistent with the view that the polypeptides arising from the tandem construct were expressed with the high affinity GABA site, but unable to form GABA channels.
Journal Article

Comparison of interactions of [3H]muscimol, t-butylbicyclophosphoro[35S]thionate, and [3H]flunitrazepam with cloned gamma-aminobutyric acidA receptors of the alpha 1 beta 2 and alpha 1 beta 2 gamma 2 subtypes.

TL;DR: It appears that the conversion of the alpha 1 beta 2 to the alpha1 beta 2 Gamma 2 subtype is favorable and complete in the presence of a sufficient level of the gamma 2 subunit, assuming the number of the GABA sites to be equal to the total number ofthe cloned GABAA receptors.
