Journal ArticleDOI
A steroid receptor coactivator acts as the DNA-binding partner of the methoprene-tolerant protein in regulating juvenile hormone response genes
Meng Li,Pengcheng Liu,Jessica D. Wiley,Reyhaneh Ojani,David R. Bevan,Jianyong Li,Jinsong Zhu +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that FISC is the obligatory partner of Met for binding to JH-response elements (JHREs) and the optimal DNA sequence recognized by Met and FISC contained a core consensus sequence GCACGTG.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimalarial 5,6-Dihydro-α-pyrones from Cryptocarya rigidifolia: Related Bicyclic Tetrahydro-α-Pyrones Are Artifacts1.
Yixi Liu,L. Harinantenaina Rakotondraibe,Peggy J. Brodie,Jessica D. Wiley,Maria B. Cassera,James S. Miller,Fidy Ratovoson,Etienne Rakotobe,Vincent E. Rasamison,David G. I. Kingston +9 more
TL;DR: A structure–activity relationship study suggested that the presence of an α,β-unsaturated carbonyl moiety is not essential for potent antimalarial activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isoprenoid Precursor Biosynthesis Is the Essential Metabolic Role of the Apicoplast during Gametocytogenesis in Plasmodium falciparum
Jessica D. Wiley,Emilio F. Merino,Priscilla Krai,Kyle Jarrod McLean,Abhai K. Tripathi,Joel Vega-Rodríguez,Marcelo Jacobs-Lorena,Michael Klemba,Maria B. Cassera +8 more
TL;DR: This study showed that production of IPP for isoprenoid biosynthesis is the essential metabolic function of the apicoplast during gametocytogenesis, by obtaining normal gametocytes lacking the apICoplast when supplemented with IPP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neolignans and other metabolites from Ocotea cymosa from the Madagascar rain forest and their biological activities.
L. Harinantenaina Rakotondraibe,Paul R. Graupner,Quanbo Xiong,Olson Monica Britt,Jessica D. Wiley,Priscilla Krai,Peggy J. Brodie,Martin W. Callmander,Etienne Rakotobe,Fidy Ratovoson,Vincent E. Rasamison,Maria B. Cassera,Donald R. Hahn,David G. I. Kingston,Serge Fotso +14 more
TL;DR: Ten new neolignans including the 6'-oxo-8.1'-lignan sibyllenone from the stems or bark of the Madagascan plant Ocotea cymosa are isolated on the basis of spectroscopic evidence, including 1D and 2D NMR spectra, electronic circular dichroism, and mass spectrometry, and the biological activities of the new and known compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antiproliferative Compounds from Cleistanthus boivinianus from the Madagascar Dry Forest1
Yixi Liu,Kelly Young,L. Harinantenaina Rakotondraibe,Peggy J. Brodie,Jessica D. Wiley,Maria B. Cassera,Martin W. Callmander,Roland Rakotondrajaona,Etienne Rakotobe,Vincent E. Rasamison,Karen TenDyke,Yongchun Shen,David G. I. Kingston +12 more
TL;DR: Three new lignans isolated from Cleistanthus boivinianus showed potent antiproliferative activities against the A2780 ovarian cancer cell line, and compounds 1, 4, and 5 showed potent antimicrobial activity against the HCT-116 human colon carcinoma cell line.
