Journal ArticleDOI

Diphlorethohydroxycarmalol isolated from Ishige okamurae, a brown algae, a potent α-glucosidase and α-amylase inhibitor, alleviates postprandial hyperglycemia in diabetic mice

TL;DR: Results indicated that DPHC might be a potent inhibitor for alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase as well as it delays absorption of dietary carbohydrates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dieckol isolated from Ecklonia cava inhibits α-glucosidase and α-amylase in vitro and alleviates postprandial hyperglycemia in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice.

TL;DR: The result indicated that dieckol might be a potent inhibitor for α-glucosidase and α-amylase as well as it delays absorption of dietary carbohydrates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protective effects of dieckol isolated from Ecklonia cava against high glucose-induced oxidative stress in human umbilical vein endothelial cells

TL;DR: Findings indicate that dieckol is a potential therapeutic agent that will reduce the damage caused by hyperglycemia-induced oxidative stress associated with diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mulberry (Morus alba L.) Fruit Extract Containing Anthocyanins Improves Glycemic Control and Insulin Sensitivity via Activation of AMP-Activated Protein Kinase in Diabetic C57BL/Ksj-db/db Mice

TL;DR: Dietary MFE may improve hyperglycemia and insulin sensitivity via activation of AMPK and AS160 in skeletal muscles and inhibition of gluconeogenesis in the liver and the homeostatic index of insulin resistance significantly decreased in the MFE-supplemented group relative to the diabetic control group.
