Journal ArticleDOI
Diphlorethohydroxycarmalol isolated from Ishige okamurae, a brown algae, a potent α-glucosidase and α-amylase inhibitor, alleviates postprandial hyperglycemia in diabetic mice
TL;DR: Results indicated that DPHC might be a potent inhibitor for alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase as well as it delays absorption of dietary carbohydrates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Protective effect of diphlorethohydroxycarmalol isolated from Ishige okamurae against high glucose-induced-oxidative stress in human umbilical vein endothelial cells.
Soo-Jin Heo,Ji-Young Hwang,Jung-In Choi,Seung-Hong Lee,Pyo-Jam Park,Do-Hyung Kang,Chulhong Oh,Dong-Woo Kim,Ji-Sook Han,You-Jin Jeon,Hak-Ju Kim,Il-Whan Choi +11 more
TL;DR: Findings indicate that DPHC might be used as potential pharmaceutical agent which will reduce the damage caused by high glucose-induced-oxidative stress associated with diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diphlorethohydroxycarmalol isolated from Pae ( Ishige okamurae ) protects high glucose-induced damage in RINm5F pancreatic β cells via its antioxidant effects
Seung-Hong Lee,Jung-In Choi,Soo-Jin Heo,Mi-Hwa Park,Pyo-Jam Park,Byong-Tae Jeon,Se-Kwon Kim,Ji-Sook Han,You-Jin Jeon +8 more
TL;DR: Findings indicate that DPHC might be used as potential nutraceutical agent which will protect the glucotoxicity caused by hyperglycemia-induced oxidative stress associated with diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Female sex and prognosis following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: does lack of statistical significance equal clinically insignificant?
TL;DR: In this paper , a systematic review evaluated the association of female sex with survival to discharge and survival to 30 days after non-traumatic out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and found that women have a higher likelihood of return of spontaneous circulation compared to men.
Journal ArticleDOI
Histoplasma capsulatum culture-negative prosthetic valve endocarditis presenting as a cystic mass
TL;DR: A 58-year-old immunocompetent patient with previous prosthetic valve presented with chest pain, constitutional symptoms and septic shock, and was deemed high-risk for a third re-do open heart surgery.
