Water-Insoluble Organics Dominate Brown Carbon in Wintertime Urban Aerosol of China: Chemical Characteristics and Optical Properties
Ru-Jin Huang,Ru-Jin Huang,Lu Yang,Jincan Shen,Wei Yuan,Yuquan Gong,Jie Guo,Wenjuan Cao,Jing Duan,Haiyan Ni,Haiyan Ni,Chongshu Zhu,Wenting Dai,Yong Jie Li,Yang Chen,Qi Chen,Yunfei Wu,Renjian Zhang,Ulrike Dusek,Colin D. O'Dowd,Thorsten Hoffmann +20 more
TL;DR: These three BrC fractions show large differences in light absorption and chromophore composition, but the chromophores responsible for light absorption are similar in Xi'an and Beijing in winter 2013-2014.
Journal ArticleDOI
Organosulfates in atmospheric aerosol: synthesis and quantitative analysis of PM 2.5 from Xi'an, northwestern China
Ru-Jin Huang,Junji Cao,Yang Chen,Lu Yang,Jincan Shen,Qihua You,Kai Wang,Kai Wang,Chunshui Lin,Chunshui Lin,Wei Xu,Wei Xu,Bo Gao,Yong Jie Li,Qi Chen,Thorsten Hoffmann,Colin D. O'Dowd,Merete Bilde,Marianne Glasius +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported an improved robust procedure for the synthesis of organosulfates with different functional groups and used authentic standards for quantifying their ambient concentrations in atmospheric aerosol.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measurement of chemical oxygen demand (COD) in natural water samples by flow injection ozonation chemiluminescence (FI-CL) technique
Baohui Jin,Ying He,Jincan Shen,Zhi-xia Zhuang,Zhi-xia Zhuang,Xiaoru Wang,Xiaoru Wang,Frank S.C. Lee +7 more
TL;DR: A new method of utilizing aqueous chemiluminescence to determine COD using the phenomenon that luminol can be oxidized by the dissolved ozone to produce luminescence is established.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigation of mercury metallothionein complexes in tissues of rat after oral intake of HgCl2
TL;DR: The role of metallothionein (MT) expression in the detoxification of mercury after its oral intake in mammals is studied in this article, where a homemade preparative size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) column packed with Sephadex G-75 (40-120 µm particle size) gel (Pharmacia) was used for the purification of MT fractions in rat tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metallothionein as a biomarker for mercury in tissues of rat fed orally with cinnabar
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and a modified mercury saturation assay technique respectively to assess mercurial accumulation in rats fed orally with cinnabar.
