Interactions between hotspots and the Southwest Indian Ridge during the last 90 Ma: Implications on the formation of oceanic plateaus and intra-plate seamounts

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the relationship between the hotspot-ridge interaction and the formation of oceanic plateaus and seamounts in the Southwest Indian Ocean and revealed that the activities of the Marion hotspot can be divided into three main phases: interaction with the paleo-Rodrigues triple junction (73.6-68.5 Ma), interaction with SWIR (68.7-42.7 Ma), and intra-plate volcanism (42.3-0 Ma).
Journal ArticleDOI

Magmatism and tectonic processes in Area A hydrothermal vent on the Southwest Indian Ridge

TL;DR: The first active hydrothermal vent in Area A (37.78°S, 49.65°E) is the first active vent discovered on the Southwest Indian Ridge (SWIR) as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Morpho-tectonic study on late-stage spreading of the Eastern Subbasin of South China Sea

TL;DR: In this paper, three NE-trending linear structural zones with different strikes are present in the Eastern Subbasin of the South China Sea, and they correspond respectively to three spreading episodes: the magnetic anomalies 6c −6a (24 −21 Ma), 6a −5e (21 − 19 Ma), and 5e −5d (5c) (19 − 16 Ma).
