Photosynthetic gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence and some associated metabolic changes in cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) during water stress and recovery
Rogéria Pereira de Souza,Eduardo Caruso Machado,Jose Benedito Silva,Ana Maria Magalhães Andrade Lagôa,Joaquim A. G. Silveira +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the responses of photosynthetic gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence along with changes in carbohydrate and proline levels were studied in cowpea during water stress and recovery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Photoprotective function of energy dissipation by thermal processes and photorespiratory mechanisms in Jatropha curcas plants during different intensities of drought and after recovery.
Evandro Nascimento Silva,Joaquim A. G. Silveira,Rafael Vasconcelos Ribeiro,Suyanne A. Vieira +3 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of photorespiration in photoprotective mechanisms in photosystem II of Jatropha curcas plants was evaluated in which stage of water deficit.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exogenous ornithine is an effective precursor and the δ-ornithine amino transferase pathway contributes to proline accumulation under high N recycling in salt-stressed cashew leaves.
Iza M. A. Rocha,Victor Alexandre Vitorello,Jamille Santos da Silva,Sérgio Luiz Ferreira-Silva,Ricardo Almeida Viégas,Evandro Nascimento Silva,Joaquim A. G. Silveira +6 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that proline accumulation might be a consequence of salt-induced increase in N recycling, resulting in increased levels of ornithine and other metabolites involved with proline synthesis and OAT activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coordinate changes in photosynthesis, sugar accumulation and antioxidative enzymes improve the performance of Jatropha curcas plants under drought stress
Evandro Nascimento Silva,Rafael Vasconcelos Ribeiro,Sérgio Luiz Ferreira-Silva,Suyanne A. Vieira,Luiz Ferreira Aguiar Ponte,Joaquim A. G. Silveira +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the relationship between photosynthesis, sugars and photo-oxidative protection mechanisms in Jatropha curcas under drought stress was assessed, and it was shown that drought triggers a coordinate downregulation in photosynthesis through sucrose and reducing sugar accumulation and an energy excess dissipation at PSII level.
Journal ArticleDOI
The knockdown of chloroplastic ascorbate peroxidases reveals its regulatory role in the photosynthesis and protection under photo-oxidative stress in rice
Andréia Caverzan,Aurenivia Bonifacio,Fabricio E. L. Carvalho,Claudia Marlise Balbinotti Andrade,Gisele Passaia,Mariana Schunemann,Felipe dos Santos Maraschin,Marcio O. Martins,Felipe Karam Teixeira,Rafael Rauber,Rogério Margis,Joaquim A. G. Silveira,Márcia Margis-Pinheiro +12 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that a partial deficiency of chlAPX expression modulate the PSII activity and integrity, reflecting the overall photosynthesis when rice plants are subjected to acute oxidative stress.
