Journal ArticleDOI
Mutations in the cardiac transcription factor NKX2.5 affect diverse cardiac developmental pathways
D. Woodrow Benson,G. Michael Silberbach,Ann Kavanaugh-McHugh,Carol M. Cottrill,Yizhong Zhang,Steve Riggs,Octavia Smalls,Mark C. Johnson,Michael S. Watson,Jonathan G. Seidman,Christine E. Seidman,John Plowden,John D. Kugler +12 more
TL;DR: Mutations in human NKX2.5 cause a variety of cardiac anomalies and may account for a clinically significant portion of tetralogy of Fallot and idiopathic AV block.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term outcome in congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries: a multi-institutional study.
Thomas P. Graham,Yvonne Bernard,Beverly G Mellen,David S. Celermajer,Helmut Baumgartner,Frank Cetta,Heidi M. Connolly,William R. Davidson,Mikael Dellborg,Elyse Foster,Welton M. Gersony,Ira H. Gessner,Roger A. Hurwitz,Harald Kaemmerer,John D. Kugler,Daniel J. Murphy,Jacqueline A. Noonan,Cynthia Morris,Joseph K. Perloff,Stephen P. Sanders,James L. Sutherland +20 more
TL;DR: Patients with CCTGA are increasingly subject to CHF with advancing age; this complication is extremely common by the fourth and fifth decades.
Journal ArticleDOI
The long QT syndrome in children. An international study of 287 patients.
Arthur Garson,M Dick,A Fournier,P C Gillette,Robert M. Hamilton,John D. Kugler,G F van Hare,V Vetter,G W Vick +8 more
TL;DR: Patients with QTc of more than 0.60 are at particularly high risk for sudden death, and if treatment is not effective, consideration should be given to cardiac sympathetic denervation, pacemaker implantation, and perhaps implantation of a defibrillator.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation for Tachyarrhythmias in Children and Adolescents
John D. Kugler,David A. Danford,Barbara J. Deal,Paul C. Gillette,James C. Perry,Michael J. Silka,George F. Van Hare,Edward P. Walsh +7 more
TL;DR: Radiofrequency catheter ablation has been used extensively to treat refractory supraventricular tachycardia in adults, but few data are available on its safety and efficacy in children and adolescents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pediatric radiofrequency catheter ablation registry success, fluoroscopy time, and complication rate for supraventricular tachycardia: comparison of early and recent eras.
TL;DR: To assess changes of success rate, fluoroscopy time, and complication rate for six supraventricular tachycardia pathways/mechanisms, data from the Pediatric Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation Registry were grouped into two eras.
