Journal ArticleDOI

Anaerobic Accumulation of γ-Aminobutyric Acid and Alanine in Radish Leaves (Raphanus sativus, L.)

TL;DR: In leaves, the anaerobic accumulation of alanine was accompanied by a loss of aspartate, and these changes preceded gamma-aminobutyrate accumulation and glutamate loss, and changes in keto acid content did not appear to be the cause of amino acid changes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Decreased Citrate Improves Iron Availability from Infant Formula: Application of an In Vitro Digestion/Caco-2 Cell Culture Model

TL;DR: The results indicate that too much citrate can reduce iron uptake, particularly if it is present at concentrations greater than promoters such as ascorbic acid and cysteine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Threonine synthetase from higher plants: stimulation by S-adenosylmethionine and inhibition by cysteine.

TL;DR: The results suggest that the conversion of O-phosphohomoserine to either threonine or cystathionine is regulated by the relative amounts of cysteine and S-adenosylmethionine present.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in Amino Acid Content of Excised Leaves During Incubation I. The Effect of Water Content of Leaves and Atmospheric Oxygen Level

TL;DR: The amino acid analyses showed that turgid leaves did not accumulate prolines and that proline and methylcysteine sulfoxide accumulation was abolished by anaerobiosis, and several pathways of amino acid degradation were suggested.
