Wind and solar energy curtailment: A review of international experience
Lori Bird,Debra Lew,Michael Milligan,E. Maria Carlini,Ana Estanqueiro,Damian Flynn,Emilio Gómez-Lázaro,Hannele Holttinen,Nickie Menemenlis,Antje Orths,P.B. Eriksen,J. Charles Smith,Lennart Söder,Poul Ejnar Sørensen,Argyrios Altiparmakis,Yoh Yasuda,John Miller +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reviewed international experience with curtailment of wind and solar energy on bulk power systems in recent years, with a focus on eleven countries in Europe, North America, and Asia.
Journal ArticleDOI
CO2 emissions associated with electric vehicle charging: The impact of electricity generation mix, charging infrastructure availability and vehicle type
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an analysis of anticipated emissions resulting from both battery electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles for four charging scenarios and five electricity grid profiles, showing that vehicle emissions are highly dependent on the percentage of fossil fuels in the grid mix, with different vehicle types and charging scenarios resulting in fewer emissions when the carbon intensity of the grid is above a defined level.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Rate Design Alternatives on Residential Solar Customer Bills: Increased Fixed Charges, Minimum Bills and Demand-Based Rates
TL;DR: In this paper, the impacts of increased fixed charges, minimum bills and residential demand charges on PV and non-PV customer bills are investigated, and it is shown that minimum bills more accurately capture utilities' revenue requirement than fixed charges.

ReportDOI
Renewable Electricity Use by the U.S. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Industry
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide an initial look at electricity use, current and future renewable electricity acquisition, as well as serve as a benchmark for future growth and trends in ICT industry renewable electricity consumption.
