Journal ArticleDOI

Application of Spectroscopic Methods for Structural Analysis of Chitin and Chitosan

TL;DR: A complete chemical and physicochemical characterization of chitin, chitosan and their derivatives is not possible without using spectroscopic techniques, so this review focuses on the application of Spectroscopic methods for the structural analysis of these compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antibiotic resistance genes identified in wastewater treatment plant systems ─ A review

TL;DR: It seems that WWTPs with conventional treatment processes are capable of significant reduction of ARB but are not efficient in ARG removal, as the levels of antibiotics detected in influent and effluent ofWWTPs were presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biomedical Activity of Chitin/Chitosan Based Materials—Influence of Physicochemical Properties Apart from Molecular Weight and Degree of N-Acetylation

TL;DR: A considerable research effort has been directed towards developing safe and efficient chitin/chitosan-based products because many factors, like the size of nanoparticles, can determine the biomedical characteristics of medicinal products.
Journal ArticleDOI

Matrix effects and recovery calculations in analyses of pharmaceuticals based on the determination of β-blockers and β-agonists in environmental samples.

TL;DR: GC-MS analyses are much less sensitive to the complexity of sample matrices than LC-MS, so GC-MS measurements appear to be a very good alternative to LC- MS methods of determining pharmaceutical residues in environmental samples.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrolysis of sulphonamides in aqueous solutions.

TL;DR: The results show that under typical environmental conditions (pH and temperature) sulphonamides are hydrolytically stable with a long half-life; they thus contribute to the on-going assessment of their environmental fate.
