Effects of blades inside a nozzle on the fiber orientation and distribution in fiber-reinforced cement-based materials

TL;DR: In this paper, a nozzle with blades inside called B-nozzle was developed to improve the fiber orientation and distribution in fiber-reinforced cement-based materials, while considering the physical interactions between the flow of the cementitious material, the boundaries of the nozzle, and the movement and rotation of the fiber.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment and prediction of land-use/land-cover change around Blue Nile and White Nile due to flood hazards in Khartoum, Sudan, based on geospatial analysis

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the impact of flooding on people's lives and the safety of infrastructures in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, in the Blue Nile (BN) and White Nile (WN) tributaries.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gene expression programming application for prediction of ultimate axial strain of FRP-confined concrete

TL;DR: In this paper, the use of genetic expression programming as a tool to predict the ultimate axial strain of fiber-reinforced polymer-confined concrete is presented, and a large experimental data set (219) of these tests is collected from published literature.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seismic Response of Steel Moment Frames (SMFs) Considering Simultaneous Excitations of Vertical and Horizontal Components, Including Fling-Step Ground Motions

TL;DR: In this paper, a nonlinear time history analysis of steel moment frames of three-, five-, and eight-story buildings has been performed using OpenSees software to evaluate the behavioral seismic differences of these frames under the simultaneous excitation of the horizontal and vertical constituents of near-field earthquakes that have Fling-steps in their records.
