Modelling of non-cohesive sediment transport processes in the marine environment

TL;DR: Sediment transport mechanisms and their mathematical modelling in the marine environment are reviewed in this paper, where the transport of sediment as bed load, sheet flow and suspended load in pure current is described.

Scour around spherical bodies and self-burial

TL;DR: In this article, an experimental study on scour around spherical bodies and self-burial in steady current and in waves was carried out, where the effect of the Shields parameter and the position of the sphere with respect to the bed was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of Clay Content on Wave-Induced Liquefaction

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of clay content (CC) on liquefaction of seabed under progressive waves was studied. But the results of the experiments were conducted with silt and silt-clay mixtures; in supplementary tests, sand-clays mixtures were used.
Journal ArticleDOI

Longitudinal Grain Sorting by Current in Alluvial Streams

TL;DR: In this paper, the longitudinal current sorting of graded sediment is analyzed by use of a sediment transport formula developed recently by Engelund and Fredsoe (1976), and the analysis yields that for a given longitudinal profile of a river, the longitudinal variation in mean grain diameter and the grain distribution curve is unique determined by the sediment input and water discharge.
