Tumor markers (CEA, CA 125, CYFRA 21-1, SCC and NSE) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer as an aid in histological diagnosis and prognosis: Comparison with the main clinical and pathological prognostic factors

TL;DR: All tumor markers showed a clear relationship with tumor stage and histology and therefore enabled a better histological diagnosis and helped in the diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI

ProGRP: a new biomarker for small cell lung cancer.

TL;DR: Preliminary studies suggest ProGRP will have utility in conjunction with NSE in monitoring the therapy of established SCLC, and is a more sensitive biomarker than is neuron-specific enolase for SCLP, but thus far has not been found in multivariate analysis to have independent prognostic significance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of a Combined Panel of Six Serum Tumor Markers for Lung Cancer

TL;DR: The combined assessment of a panel of six serum TMs is a more accurate marker for LC presence than these same TMs considered individually and it increased the diagnostic performance of a clinical model that included tumor size, age, and smoking status.
Journal ArticleDOI

Serum matrix metalloproteinase 7 levels identifies poor prognosis advanced colorectal cancer patients.

TL;DR: Serum MMP‐7 levels are significantly elevated in patients with advanced CRC and are an independent prognostic factor for survival in advanced CRC, and in this sample, the risk of death associated to M MP‐7 increase is much higher than therisk of death related to lactate dehydrogenase elevation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Usefulness of Serum Tumor Markers, Including Progastrin-Releasing Peptide, in Patients with Lung Cancer: Correlation with Histology

TL;DR: Tumor marker determination in patients with suspicious signs of lung cancer suggests, in a few hours, the histological diagnosis in the majority of lung cancers patients.
