Journal ArticleDOI

Assignment of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A to chromosome 10 by linkage

TL;DR: The MEN2A locus was assigned to chromosome 10 by linkage with a new DNA marker (D10S5) and the linkage led to investigate other chromosome 10 markers and demonstrate linkage between the disease locus and the interstitial retinol-binding protein (IRBP) gene1.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of growth hormone dynamics in human immunodeficiency virus-related lipodystrophy.

TL;DR: Pulse analysis demonstrated decreased baseline GH in the LIPO subjects but no significant difference in pulse frequency and insulin-like growth factor-I was not different between the groups and the mean GH concentration was correlated inversely with mean GH concentrations in the HIV-infected patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nonsense mutation in the human growth hormone-releasing hormone receptor causes growth failure analogous to the little (lit) mouse

TL;DR: A nonsense mutation in the human GHRHR gene is reported that results in profound GH deficiency in at least two members of a consanguineous family and may account for other instances ofGH deficiency in which the growth hormone gene is normal.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Diabetes and its Control on Insulin-like Growth Factors in the Young Subject with Type I Diabetes

TL;DR: Elevated growth hormone levels in poorly controlled diabetes are ineffective in IGF I generation and that this defect is at least partially corrected by acute improvement in control, according to a study of 19 young, insulin-dependent subjects with diabetes mellitus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hypocalciuria in preeclampsia.

TL;DR: Researchers studied 40 women in the third trimester of pregnancy to determine whether alterations in serum calcium levels or in urinary calcium excretion would distinguish patients with preeclampsia from normal pregnant women or women with other forms of gestational hypertension.
