A cell-based screen identifies ATR inhibitors with synthetic lethal properties for cancer-associated mutations
Luis I. Toledo,Matilde Murga,Rafal Zur,Rebeca Soria,Antonio Rodriguez,Sonia Martinez,Julen Oyarzabal,Joaquín Pastor,James R. Bischoff,Oscar Fernandez-Capetillo +9 more
TL;DR: A cell-based screening strategy is described that has allowed us to identify compounds with ATR inhibitory activity in the nanomolar range that are being tested for cancer chemotherapy and are also very potent against ATM, ATR and the catalytic subunit of DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PKcs).
Journal ArticleDOI
The CHEMDNER corpus of chemicals and drugs and its annotation principles.

TL;DR: The CHEMDNER corpus is presented, a collection of 10,000 PubMed abstracts that contain a total of 84,355 chemical entity mentions labeled manually by expert chemistry literature curators, following annotation guidelines specifically defined for this task.
Journal ArticleDOI
Salermide, a Sirtuin inhibitor with a strong cancer-specific proapoptotic effect
E Lara,Antonello Mai,Vincenzo Calvanese,Lucia Altucci,Pilar López-Nieva,María L. Martínez-Chantar,Marta Varela-Rey,Dante Rotili,Angela Nebbioso,Santiago Ropero,Guillermo Montoya,Julen Oyarzabal,S Velasco,Manuel Serrano,M. Witt,Ana Villar-Garea,A Inhof,José M. Mato,Manel Esteller,Mario F. Fraga +19 more
TL;DR: The results underline Salermide's promise as an anticancer drug and provide evidence for the molecular mechanism through which Sirt1 is involved in human tumorigenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phosphodiesterases as Therapeutic Targets for Alzheimer's Disease
TL;DR: The data supporting the use of PDE inhibitors as cognitive enhancers are summarized and the possible mechanisms of action underlying these effects are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
CHEMDNER: The drugs and chemical names extraction challenge
Martin Krallinger,Florian Leitner,Obdulia Rabal,Miguel Vazquez,Julen Oyarzabal,Alfonso Valencia +5 more
TL;DR: This task allowed a comparative assessment of the performance of various methodologies using a carefully prepared collection of manually labeled text prepared by specially trained chemists as Gold Standard data, and expected that the tools and resources resulting from this effort will have an impact in future developments of chemical text mining applications.
