TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a single amino acid variation in a herpesvirus enzyme can influence neuropathogenic potential without having a major effect on virus shedding from infected animals, which is important for horizontal spread in a population.

Distribution of equid herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) in respiratory tract associated lymphoid tissue: implications for cellular immunity.
TL;DR: The results showed both infectious EHV-1 and viral antigens in respiratory tract associated lymph nodes 12 h after exposure implies that cell mediated immunity is an important aspect of the equine response to this virus.
