Journal ArticleDOI

Manganese- or iron-catalyzed homocoupling of grignard reagents using atmospheric oxygen as an oxidant.

TL;DR: Atmospheric oxygen was used for the first time as an oxidant in metal-catalyzed homocoupling of Grignard reagents, applicable to the large-scale synthesis of symmetrical conjugated compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanochemical degradation of lignin and wood by solvent-free grinding in a reactive medium

TL;DR: In this article, a mechanochemical approach for the cleavage of β-O-4-linkages in lignin is reported, which is transition metal and solvent free, requires only inexpensive reagents, and tolerates the presence of water and standard reagent impurities.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ruthenium‐Catalyzed C ? C Bond Cleavage in Lignin Model Substrates

TL;DR: A mechanistic pathway involving a dehydrogenation-initiated retro-aldol reaction for the C-C bond cleavage of the β-O-4 lignin linkage of 1,3-dilignol model compounds was proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Copper-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling of Alkyl and Aryl Grignard Reagents with Alkynyl Halides

TL;DR: The first efficient copper-catalyzed alkynylation of alkyl and aryl Grignard reagents with alkyny halides is reported and satisfactory yields can be obtained by slowly introducing the Grignards reagent to the reaction mixture.
