NF-κB Is a Central Regulator of the Intestinal Epithelial Cell Innate Immune Response Induced by Infection with Enteroinvasive Bacteria
Dirk Elewaut,Joseph A. DiDonato,Jung Mogg Kim,Jung Mogg Kim,Francis Truong,Lars Eckmann,Martin F. Kagnoff +6 more
TL;DR: NF-kappa B is position as a central regulator of the epithelial cell innate immune response to infection with enteroinvasive bacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Apoptosis of human intestinal epithelial cells after bacterial invasion.
TL;DR: The delay in onset of epithelial cell apoptosis after bacterial infection may be important both to the host and the invading pathogen since it provides sufficient time for epithelial cells to generate signals important for the activation of mucosal inflammation and concurrently allows invading bacteria time to adapt to the intracellular environment before invading deeper mucosal layers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of primary and secondary antimicrobial resistance of Helicobacter pylori in Korea from 2003 through 2012.
Jung Won Lee,Nayoung Kim,Nayoung Kim,Jung Mogg Kim,Ryoung Hee Nam,Hyun Chang,Jae Yeon Kim,Cheol Min Shin,Young Soo Park,Young Soo Park,Dong Ho Lee,Dong Ho Lee,Hyun Chae Jung +12 more
TL;DR: The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of primary and secondary resistance of H. pylori isolates to antibiotics and to characterize the risk factors associated with antimicrobial resistance in Korea.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Bacterial Flagellin, Vibrio vulnificus FlaB, Has a Strong Mucosal Adjuvant Activity To Induce Protective Immunity
Shee Eun Lee,Soo Young Kim,Byung Chul Jeong,Young Ran Kim,Soo Jang Bae,Ouk Seon Ahn,Je-Jung Lee,Ho Chun Song,Jung Mogg Kim,Hyon E. Choy,Sun Sik Chung,Mi-Na Kweon,Joon Haeng Rhee +12 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that flagellin would serve as an efficacious mucosal adjuvant inducing protective immune responses through TLR5 activation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Simvastatin induces apoptosis in human colon cancer cells and in tumor xenografts, and attenuates colitis‐associated colon cancer in mice
TL;DR: Evaluated effects of simvastatin on the apoptotic pathways related to NF‐κB signaling in colon cancer cells, and on anticancer effects in 2 different animal models suggest that simVastatin could be a potential chemopreventive and therapeutic agent of CAC as well as de novo colon cancer.
