Prevalence of serum and salivary antibodies to HTLV-1 in Sjögren's syndrome

TL;DR: Seroepidemiological and virological studies conducted on patients with this syndrome in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan suggest that HTLV-1 is involved in the pathogenesis of the disease in a subset of patients with Sjögren's syndrome in endemic areas.
Journal ArticleDOI

Primary Sjögren's syndrome with antibodies to HTLV-I: clinical and laboratory features.

TL;DR: The presence of antibodies to HTLV-I in some patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome suggests that HTLV -I may cause primary SJögren’s syndrome or its extraglandular manifestations, or both.
Journal ArticleDOI

RS3PE syndrome presenting as vascular endothelial growth factor associated disorder

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured serum concentrations of various cytokines and detection by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of synovial hypervascularity in patients with remitting seronegative symmetrical synovitis with pitting oedema (RS3PE) syndrome before and after corticosteroid treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transforming growth factor beta 1 induces apoptotic cell death in cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells with down-regulated expression of bcl-2.

TL;DR: It is suggested that TGF-beta 1 regulates the growth of HUVEC by inducing apoptosis accompanied with down-regulation of bcl-2 expression, which is a potent growth inhibitor of human umbilical vein endothelial cells.
