Validation of v1.022 mesospheric water vapor observed by the Solar Occultation for Ice Experiment instrument on the Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere satellite
Pingping Rong,James M. Russell,Larry L. Gordley,Mark E. Hervig,Lance E. Deaver,Peter F. Bernath,Kaley A. Walker +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, water vapor measured by the Solar Occultation for Ice Experiment (SOFIE) instrument on the Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere satellite has been validated in the vertical range 45-95 km.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterizing model errors in chemical transport modeling of methane: impact of model resolution in versions v9-02 of GEOS-Chem and v35j of its adjoint model
Ilya Stanevich,Dylan B. A. Jones,Kimberly Strong,Robert J. Parker,Hartmut Boesch,Debra Wunch,Justus Notholt,Christof Petri,Thorsten Warneke,Ralf Sussmann,Matthias Schneider,Frank Hase,Rigel Kivi,Nicholas M. Deutscher,Voltaire A. Velazco,Kaley A. Walker,Feng Deng +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the GEOS-Chem simulation of atmospheric CH4 was evaluated against observations from the Thermal And Near infrared Sensor for carbon Observations Fourier Transform Spectrometer (TANSO-FTS) on the Greenhouse gases Observing SATellite (GOSAT), the Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment Fourier transform spectrometer, and the Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON) for the period of February-May 2010.
Journal ArticleDOI
Simultaneous ground-based observations of O 3 , HCl, N 2 O, and CH 4 over Toronto, Canada by three Fourier transform spectrometers with different resolutions
Debra Wunch,Jeffrey R. Taylor,Dejian Fu,Peter F. Bernath,Peter F. Bernath,James R. Drummond,James R. Drummond,Clive Midwinter,Kim Strong,Kaley A. Walker,Kaley A. Walker +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, an intercomparison of three Fourier transform spectrometers (FTSs) with significantly different resolutions is presented, and the results indicate that the two lower-resolution instruments can retrieve total column amounts of O3, HCl, N2O and CH4 using the SFIT2 retrieval code with percent differences from the high-resolution in-strument generally better than 4%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Severe 2011 ozone depletion assessed with 11 years of ozone, NO2, and OClO measurements at 80°N
Cristen Adams,Kimberly Strong,Xiaoyi Zhao,Matt Bassford,Matt Bassford,Martyn P. Chipperfield,William H. Daffer,James R. Drummond,James R. Drummond,E. Farahani,Wuhu Feng,A. Fraser,A. Fraser,Florence Goutail,Gloria L. Manney,Gloria L. Manney,Chris A. McLinden,Andrea Pazmino,Markus Rex,Kaley A. Walker,Kaley A. Walker +20 more
TL;DR: The average NO2 column inside the vortex, measured at visible and UV wavelengths, was 46 ± 30% and 45 ± 27% lower in 2011 than the average NO 2column from previous years as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of SAGE III/ISS Solar Occultation Ozone Products with Correlative Satellite and Ground Based Measurements
H. J. Ray Wang,Robert Damadeo,David Flittner,Natalya Kramarova,Ghassan Taha,Sean M. Davis,Anne M. Thompson,Susan E. Strahan,Yuhang Wang,Lucien Froidevaux,Doug Degenstein,Adam Bourassa,Wolfgang Steinbrecht,Kaley A. Walker,Richard Querel,Thierry Leblanc,Sophie Godin-Beekmann,Dale F. Hurst,Dale F. Hurst,Emrys G. Hall,Emrys G. Hall +20 more
TL;DR: The Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas Experiment III on the International Space Station (SAGE III/ISS) was launched on February 19, 2017 and began routine operation in June 2017.
