The SARS-CoV-2 protein ORF3a inhibits fusion of autophagosomes with lysosomes

TL;DR: In this article, the authors systematically screened 28 viral proteins of SARS-CoV-2 and identified that ORF3a strongly inhibited autophagic flux by blocking the fusion of autophagosomes with lysosomes.
Journal ArticleDOI

The interplay between emerging human coronavirus infections and autophagy.

TL;DR: Following outbreaks of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and the Middle East respiratory virus (MERS) in 2002 and 2012, respectively, the severe acute resp...
Journal ArticleDOI

PtdIns4P restriction by hydrolase SAC1 decides specific fusion of autophagosomes with lysosomes

TL;DR: It is suggested that correct upstream lipid incorporation was important for downstream fusion step of autophagy and that Sac1 played a critical and ancient role in this surveillance of lipid integration.
Journal ArticleDOI

O-GlcNAcylation modulates HBV replication through regulating cellular autophagy at multiple levels

TL;DR: Investigation of OGT activity with a small molecule inhibitor OSMI‐1 or silencing OGT significantly enhanced HBV replication and HBsAg production in hepatoma cells and primary human hepatocytes (PHHs), and inhibition of O‐GlcNAcylation blocked autophagosome‐lysosome fusion and thereby prevented autophagic degradation of HBV virions and proteins.
