Drivers for global agricultural land use change: The nexus of diet, population, yield and bioenergy

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used country-level panel data (1961-2011) to allocate the land areas used to produce food for human consumption, waste and biofuels, and attribute the food production area changes to diet, population and yields drivers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessing uncertainties in land cover projections

TL;DR: A higher degree of uncertainty exists in land use projections than currently included in climate or earth system projections, and it is recommended to use a diverse set of models and approaches when assessing the potential impacts of land cover change on future climate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Food supply and bioenergy production within the global cropland planetary boundary.

TL;DR: It was found that under current assumptions of future food requirements, it was not possible to also produce significant amounts of first generation bioenergy without cropland expansion, suggesting that meeting food and bioenergy demands within the planetary boundaries would need a shift away from current trends.
