Journal ArticleDOI
Cognitive Performance Among Carriers of Pathogenic Copy Number Variants: Analysis of 152,000 UK Biobank Subjects
Kimberley Kendall,Elliott Rees,Valentina Escott-Price,Mark Einon,Rhys H. Thomas,Jonathan Hewitt,Michael Conlon O'Donovan,Michael John Owen,James T.R. Walters,George Kirov +9 more
TL;DR: This is the largest study on the cognitive phenotypes of CNVs to date and finds adult carriers of neurodevelopmental CNVs from the general population have significant cognitive deficits.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of Intellectual Disability Copy Number Variants for Association With Schizophrenia.
Elliott Rees,Kimberley Kendall,Antonio F. Pardiñas,Sophie E. Legge,Andrew Pocklington,Valentina Escott-Price,James H. MacCabe,David A. Collier,David A. Collier,Peter Holmans,Michael Conlon O'Donovan,Michael John Owen,James T.R. Walters,George Kirov +13 more
TL;DR: Burden analysis of CNVs implicated in intellectual disability (excluding known SZ CNVs) for association with SZ provided independent support for the 11 SZ risk loci previously reported to be associated with the disorder and for the protective effect of 22q11.2 duplication.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of Genetic Liability to Psychotic Experiences with Neuropsychotic Disorders and Traits
Sophie E. Legge,Hannah J. Jones,Kimberley Kendall,Antonio F. Pardiñas,Georgina E. Menzies,Matthew Bracher-Smith,Valentina Escott-Price,Elliott Rees,Katrina A. S. Davis,Matthew Hotopf,Jeanne E. Savage,Danielle Posthuma,Peter Holmans,George Kirov,Michael J. Owen,Michael Conlon O'Donovan,Stanley Zammit,James T.R. Walters +17 more
TL;DR: Genetic correlation, polygenic risk score, and copy number variation analyses indicated a shared genetic liability between psychotic experiences and major depressive disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Medical consequences of pathogenic CNVs in adults: analysis of the UK Biobank.
Karen Crawford,Matthew Bracher-Smith,David R. Owen,Kimberley Kendall,Elliott Rees,Antonio F. Pardiñas,Mark Einon,Valentina Escott-Price,James T.R. Walters,Michael Conlon O'Donovan,Michael J. Owen,George Kirov +11 more
TL;DR: Many of the CNVs have profound effects on medical health and mortality, even in people who have largely escaped early neurodevelopmental outcomes, and should inform clinicians in planning and managing the medical care of CNV carriers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cognitive performance and functional outcomes of carriers of pathogenic copy number variants: analysis of the UK Biobank.
Kimberley Kendall,Matthew Bracher-Smith,Harry Fitzpatrick,Amy Lynham,Elliott Rees,Valentina Escott-Price,Michael John Owen,Michael Conlon O'Donovan,James T.R. Walters,George Kirov +9 more
TL;DR: CNVs implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders, including schizophrenia, are associated with cognitive deficits, even among unaffected individuals, which may be subtle but CNV carriers have significant disadvantages in educational attainment and ability to earn income in adult life.
