Fhit gene therapy prevents tumor development in fhit-deficient mice
TL;DR: This study was able to inhibit tumor development by oral gene transfer, using adenoviral or adenoassociated viral vectors expressing the human FHIT gene, in heterozygous Fhit+/− knockout mice, that are prone to tumor development after carcinogen exposure.
Journal Article
WW domain containing oxidoreductase gene expression is altered in non-small cell lung cancer.
Sai Yendamuri,Tamotsu Kuroki,Francesco Trapasso,Adam C. Henry,Kristoffel R. Dumon,Kay Huebner,Noel N. Williams,Larry R. Kaiser,Carlo M. Croce +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that WWOX alterations occur in a significant fraction of lung cancers and may contribute to the pathogenesis of non-small cell lung cancer.
Journal Article
Effect of Adenoviral Transduction of the Fragile Histidine Triad Gene into Esophageal Cancer Cells
Hideshi Ishii,Kristoffel R. Dumon,Andrea Vecchione,Francesco Trapasso,Koshi Mimori,Hansjuerg Alder,Masaki Mori,Gabriella Sozzi,Raffaele Baffa,Kay Huebner,Carlo M. Croce +10 more
TL;DR: Results showed suppression of cell growth in vitro in three of seven esophageal cancer cell lines, all seven of which showed abundant expression of the FHIT gene, suggesting that adenoviral-FHIT infection should be explored as a therapeutic strategy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Proving the Effectiveness of the Fundamentals of Robotic Surgery (FRS) Skills Curriculum: A Single-blinded, Multispecialty, Multi-institutional Randomized Control Trial
Richard M. Satava,Dimitrios Stefanidis,Jeffrey S. Levy,Roger F. Smith,John R. Martin,Sara Monfared,Lava Timsina,Ara Darzi,Andrea Moglia,Timothy C. Brand,Ryan P. Dorin,Kristoffel R. Dumon,Todd D. Francone,Evangelos Georgiou,Alvin C. Goh,Jorge E. Marcet,Martin A. Martino,Ranjan Sudan,Justin Vale,Anthony G. Gallagher,Anthony G. Gallagher +20 more
TL;DR: Evidence of effectiveness for the FRS curriculum is provided by demonstrating better performance of those trained following FRS compared with controls on a transfer test and arguing for its implementation across training programs before surgeons apply these skills clinically.
Journal Article
Fragile Histidine Triad Expression Delays Tumor Development and Induces Apoptosis in Human Pancreatic Cancer
Kristoffel R. Dumon,Hideshi Ishii,Andrea Vecchione,Francesco Trapasso,Gustavo Baldassarre,Fatima Chakrani,Teresa Druck,Ernest F. Rosato,Noel N. Williams,Raffaele Baffa,Matthew J. During,Kay Huebner,Carlo M. Croce +12 more
TL;DR: In vivo results show that FHit gene transfer delays tumor growth and prolongs survival in a murine model mimicking human disease, and viral FHIT gene delivery results in apoptosis by activation of the caspase pathway.
