Journal ArticleDOI
Antibody-dependent SARS coronavirus infection is mediated by antibodies against spike proteins
Sheng-Fan Wang,Sheng-Fan Wang,Sung-Pin Tseng,Chia-Hung Yen,Jyh Yuan Yang,Ching Han Tsao,Chun Wei Shen,Kuan Hsuan Chen,Fu-Tong Liu,Wu Tse Liu,Yi Ming Arthur Chen,Jason C. Huang +11 more
TL;DR: Quantitative-PCR and immunofluorescence staining results indicate that SARS-CoV is capable of replication in HL-CZ cells, and of displaying virus-induced cytopathic effects and increased levels of TNF-α, IL-4 and IL-6 two days post-infection, while data from infectivity assays indicate that antibodies against SARsCoV spike proteins may trigger ADE effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus nucleocapsid protein in human serum using a localized surface plasmon coupled fluorescence fiber-optic biosensor
Jason C. Huang,Ying Feng Chang,Kuan Hsuan Chen,Li Chen Su,Chun Wei Lee,Chii Chang Chen,Yi Ming Arthur Chen,Chien Chou,Chien Chou,Chien Chou +9 more
TL;DR: The LSPCF fiber-optic biosensor shows an ability to detect very low concentration (∼1pg/mL) of SARS-CoV N protein in serum, which should help with the early diagnosis of Sars infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human-leukocyte antigen class I Cw 1502 and class II DR 0301 genotypes are associated with resistance to severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) infection.
Sheng-Fan Wang,Sheng-Fan Wang,Kuan Hsuan Chen,Marcelo Chen,Wen Yi Li,Yen Ju Chen,Ching Han Tsao,Muh Yong Yen,Jason C. Huang,Yi Ming Arthur Chen +9 more
TL;DR: A case-control study of the association of HLA with SARS revealed that the HLA-Cw1502 and DR0301 alleles conferred resistance against SARS infection (p<0.05).
Journal ArticleDOI
Open reading frame 8a of the human severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus not only promotes viral replication but also induces apoptosis.
Chia Yen Chen,Yueh Hsin Ping,Hsin Chen Lee,Kuan Hsuan Chen,Yuan Ming Lee,Yu Juin Chan,Te Cheng Lien,Tjin Shing Jap,Chi Hung Lin,Lung Sen Kao,Yi Ming Arthur Chen +10 more
TL;DR: ORF8a was found to be localized in mitochondria, and overexpression resulted in increases in mitochondrial transmembrane potential, reactive oxygen species production, caspase 3 activity, and cellular apoptosis through a mitochondria-dependent pathway.
Journal ArticleDOI
Simple Strategy for Rapid and Sensitive Detection of Avian Influenza A H7N9 Virus Based on Intensity-Modulated SPR Biosensor and New Generated Antibody
Ying Feng Chang,Wen Hung Wang,Yi Wei Hong,Ruei Yu Yuan,Kuan Hsuan Chen,Yu Wen Huang,Po-Liang Lu,Yen-Hsu Chen,Yi Ming Arthur Chen,Li Chen Su,Sheng-Fan Wang +10 more
TL;DR: The results of this study indicate that the proposed simple strategy using an intensity-modulated surface plasmon resonance (IM-SPR) biosensor integrated with a new generated monoclonal antibody demonstrates high sensitivity and time-saving in H7N9 virus detection.
