Engineering of thiocyanate-free Ru(II) sensitizers for high efficiency dye-sensitized solar cells
Sheng-Wei Wang,Kuan-Lin Wu,Kuan-Lin Wu,Elham Ghadiri,Maria Grazia Lobello,Shu-Te Ho,Yun Chi,Jacques-E. Moser,Filippo De Angelis,Michael Grätzel,Mohammad Khaja Nazeeruddin +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a series of Ru(II) metal complexes TFRS-1, -2, -4, -21, -22 and -24 with a single 4,4′-dicarboxylic acid-2,2′-bipyridine together with two functionalized pyridyl azolate ancillary ligands consisting of pyrazolate or triazolate groups were synthesized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Harnessing the open-circuit voltage via a new series of Ru(II) sensitizers bearing (iso-)quinolinyl pyrazolate ancillaries
Kuan-Lin Wu,Kuan-Lin Wu,Wan-Ping Ku,John N. Clifford,Emilio Palomares,Shu-Te Ho,Yun Chi,Shih-Hung Liu,Pi-Tai Chou,Mohammad Khaja Nazeeruddin,Michael Grätzel +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a novel class of Ru(II) sensitizers (TFRS-51 and TFRS-54) with a 4,4′-dicarboxy-2,2′-bipyridine anchoring ligand and two trans-oriented isoquinolinyl (or quinolinyl) pyrazolate ancillaries were designed, characterized and used to fabricate dye sensitized solar cell (DSC) devices.
Journal ArticleDOI
High Open-Circuit Voltages: Evidence for a Sensitizer-Induced TiO2 Conduction Band Shift in Ru(II)-Dye Sensitized Solar Cells
Thomas Moehl,Hoi Nok Tsao,Kuan-Lin Wu,Kuan-Lin Wu,Hui-Chu Hsu,Yun Chi,Enrico Ronca,Filippo De Angelis,Mohammad Khaja Nazeeruddin,Michael Grätzel +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an interesting heteroleptic ruthenium(II) sensitizer that shifts the conduction band of TiO2 by 80 mV has been proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thiocyanate-Free Ru(II) Sensitizers with a 4,4′-Dicarboxyvinyl-2,2′-bipyridine Anchor for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells
Kuan-Lin Wu,Kuan-Lin Wu,Wan-Ping Ku,Sheng-Wei Wang,Aswani Yella,Yun Chi,Shih-Hung Liu,Pi-Tai Chou,Mohammad Khaja Nazeeruddin,Michael Grätzel +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, a carboxyvinyl-pyrazolate sensitizer, TFRS-11TFRS-13, was proposed for dye-sensitized solar cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thiocyanate-free ruthenium(II) sensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cells based on the cobalt redox couple.
Kuan-Lin Wu,Kuan-Lin Wu,John N. Clifford,Sheng-Wei Wang,Yella Aswani,Emilio Palomares,Maria Grazia Lobello,Edoardo Mosconi,Filippo De Angelis,Wan-Ping Ku,Yun Chi,Mohammad Khaja Nazeeruddin,Mohammad Khaja Nazeeruddin,Michael Grätzel +13 more
TL;DR: Through the proper control of peripheral substituents, the thiocyanate-free ruthenium(II)-based DSC sensitizers can positively influence the performances of DSCs, with better light-harvesting capability and suppressed charge recombination, for DSC cells fabricated by using a [Co(bpy)3 ](2+/3+) -based electrolyte.
