Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of ocular permeation enhancers: In vitro effects on corneal transport of four β-blockers, and in vitro/in vivo toxic activity
TL;DR: The efficacy and toxicity of a series of prospective ocular penetration enhancers (benzalkonium chloride, EDTA, non-ionic surfactants, surface-active heteroglycosides and bile salts) was investigated in vitro, using isolated rabbit corneas.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibition of protein denaturation by fatty acids, bile salts and other natural substances: a new hypothesis for the mechanism of action of fish oil in rheumatic diseases.
Luciano Saso,Giovanni Valentini,Maria Luisa Casini,Eleonora Mattei,L. Braghiroli,Gabriela Mazzanti,Claudio Panzironi,Eleonora Grippa,Bruno Silvestrini +8 more
TL;DR: It is speculated that the antidenaturant activity of fish oil may be partly (in addition to the known effect on endogenous eicosanoid composition) responsible for its beneficial effects in rheumatoid arthritis and other rheumatic conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimicrobial triterpenoids from Licania heteromorpha.
Alessandra Braca,Ivano Morelli,Jeannette Mendez,Lucia Battinelli,L. Braghiroli,Gabriela Mazzanti +5 more
TL;DR: Six triterpenoids having a lupane and oleane skeleton were isolated from the leaves and young branches of Licania heteromorpha Bentham var.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of clozapine on dopamine-induced inhibition of prolactin release from cultured rat pituitary cells
TL;DR: Despite being less potent than the other antipsychotic agents tested, clozapine reverted the effect of dopamine on prolactin secretion in vitro, which suggests that clozAPine interferes with dopamine receptors in the pituitary gland.
