The Importance of Major Mergers in the Build Up of Stellar Mass in Brightest Cluster Galaxies at z = 1
C. Lidman,Gabriela Iacobuta,Gabriela Iacobuta,Amanda E. Bauer,L. F. Barrientos,P. Cerulo,Warrick J. Couch,L. Delaye,R. Demarco,Erica Ellingson,A. J. Faloon,David G. Gilbank,Marc Huertas-Company,Simona Mei,Joshua Meyers,Adam Muzzin,Allison Noble,J. Nantais,A. Rettura,Piero Rosati,Ruben Sanchez-Janssen,V. Strazzullo,Tracy Webb,Gillian Wilson,Renbin Yan,Howard Yee +25 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors search for observational evidence that major mergers do play a significant role in the build up of stellar mass in distant galaxy clusters, and they find a major merger rate of 0.38 ± 0.14 mergers per Gyr at z ∼ 1.2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Environmental dependence of bulge-dominated galaxy sizes in hierarchical models of galaxy formation. Comparison with the local Universe
Francesco Shankar,Simona Mei,Marc Huertas-Company,Jorge Moreno,F. Fontanot,F. Fontanot,Pierluigi Monaco,Mariangela Bernardi,Andrea Cattaneo,Ravi K. Sheth,Rossella Licitra,L. Delaye,Anand Raichoor +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare state-of-the-art semi-analytic models of galaxy formation as well as advanced subhalo abundance matching models with a large sample of early-type galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey at z < 0.3.
