Journal ArticleDOI

Mammalian Oocytes Locally Remodel Follicular Architecture to Provide the Foundation for Germline-Soma Communication

TL;DR: It is shown that TZP number and germline-soma communication are strikingly reduced in reproductively aged females, and an inability of somatic follicle cells to respond appropriately to oocyte-derived cues may contribute to human infertility.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multiple Mechanisms Cooperate to Constitutively Exclude the Transcriptional Co-Activator YAP from the Nucleus During Murine Oogenesis

TL;DR: Although YAP is expressed throughout oocytes development, phosphorylation-dependent and -independent mechanisms cooperate to ensure that it does not accumulate in the nucleus, concluding that nuclear YAP does not play a significant physiological role during oocyte development in mammals.
