David H. Kim,Yi Lin,Jonathan C. Beathe,Jiabin Liu,Joseph A. Oxendine,Stephen C. Haskins,Michael C. Ho,Douglas S Wetmore,Answorth A. Allen,Lauren A. Wilson,Christopher Garnett,Stavros G. Memtsoudis +11 more
TL;DR: The superior trunk block may be considered an alternative to traditional interscalene block for shoulder surgery and provide noninferior surgical anesthesia and analgesia while sparing the phrenic nerve.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhanced recovery after surgery components and perioperative outcomes: a nationwide observational study.
Stavros G. Memtsoudis,Stavros G. Memtsoudis,Stavros G. Memtsoudis,Megan Fiasconaro,Ellen M. Soffin,Jiabin Liu,Lauren A. Wilson,Jashvant Poeran,Janis Bekeris,Janis Bekeris,Henrik Kehlet,Henrik Kehlet +11 more
TL;DR: ERAS components were used more frequently over time, and the level of utilisation was independently associated with incrementally improved complication odds and reduced length of stay during the primary admission.
Journal ArticleDOI
Trends in Comorbidities and Complications Among Patients Undergoing Hip Fracture Repair.
Janis Bekeris,Janis Bekeris,Lauren A. Wilson,Dace Bekere,Jiabin Liu,Jiabin Liu,Jashvant Poeran,Nicole Zubizarreta,Megan Fiasconaro,Stavros G. Memtsoudis +9 more
TL;DR: The overall comorbidity burden increased among patients undergoing hip fracture repair surgery from 2006 to 2016, and incidence of postoperative complications either remained constant or declined with the only significant increase observed in acute renal failure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pre-existing Disparities and Potential Implications for the Rapid Expansion of Telemedicine in Response to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic
Jashvant Poeran,Logan D Cho,Lauren A. Wilson,Haoyan Zhong,Madhu Mazumdar,Jiabin Liu,Stavros G. Memtsoudis +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the prevalence of outpatient telemedicine visits before the COVID-19 pandemic by patient subgroups based on age, comorbidity burden, residence rurality, and median household income.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cancellation of elective surgery and intensive care unit capacity in New York state: a retrospective cohort analysis.
TL;DR: Patients undergoing elective surgery comprised a small fraction of ICU bed and mechanical ventilation use in New York State, and suspension of elective surgeries in response to the COVID-19 pandemic may have a minor impact on ICU capacity when compared to other sources ofICU admission such as emergent/urgent admissions/trauma surgery and medical admissions.
