Journal ArticleDOI

The North Sea Andrea storm and numerical simulations

TL;DR: In this paper, a coupling of a spectral wave model with a nonlinear phase-resolving model is used to reconstruct the evolution of wave statistics during a storm crossing the North Sea on 8 and 9 November 2007.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modulational instability and wave amplification in finite water depth

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that oblique side bands are capable of triggering modulational instability and eventually leading to the formation of rogue waves also for the conditions of finite water depth.
Book ChapterDOI

Occurrence of extreme waves in finite water depth

TL;DR: In this article, a comparative analysis of the statistical properties of surface gravity waves in water of finite depth is discussed by analyzing laboratory experiments, field measurements, and numerical simulations to assess the role of modulational instability on wave statistics and particularly on the occurrence of extremes.
