Journal ArticleDOI

The Age of Gliese 879 and Fomalhaut

TL;DR: In this article, the authors estimate the age of one of the prototypes of the β Pic-like stars, Fomalhaut, based on the properties of its common proper motion companion Gl 879.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the relationship between coronae and mass loss in late-type stars

TL;DR: In this paper, high-dispersion spectra taken with the IUE are used to examine the temperature stratification of the wind of the hybrid atmosphere star Alpha TrA (K4 II).
Journal ArticleDOI

Wide-Angle Wind-driven Bipolar Outflows: High-Resolution Models with Application to Source I of the Becklin-Neugebauer/Kleinmann-Low OMC-I Region

TL;DR: In this article, the inner regions of a wide-angle wind-driven bipolar outflow were modeled using an adaptive mesh refinement code, and it was shown that the head of the outflow is unstable and that it rapidly fragments into clumps.

Evolution of Disk Accretion

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors review the present knowledge of disk accretion in young low mass stars, and in particular, the mass accretion rate and its evolution with time, and they suggest that the low-mass accretion rates of the latter objects require episodes of high mass accuration rate to build the bulk of the star.
Journal ArticleDOI

A spectroscopic census in young stellar regions: The σ orionis cluster

TL;DR: In this paper, a survey of the stellar population of the σ Orionis cluster is presented, where spectral types for 340 stars are obtained from several spectrographs with similar spectroscopic coverage and resolution.
