Applying modern pain neuroscience in clinical practice: criteria for the classification of central sensitization pain.
Jo Nijs,Rafael Torres-Cueco,C. Paul van Wilgen,Enrique Lluch Girbés,Filip Struyf,Nathalie Roussel,Nathalie Roussel,Jessica Van Oosterwijck,Jessica Van Oosterwijck,Liesbeth Daenen,Liesbeth Daenen,Kevin Kuppens,Kevin Kuppens,Luc Vanderweeën,Linda Hermans,David Beckwée,Lennard Voogt,Lennard Voogt,Jacqui Clark,Niamh Moloney,Niamh Moloney,Mira Meeus,Mira Meeus +22 more
TL;DR: Clinicians can use the proposed classification algorithm for differentiating neuropathic, nociceptive, and central sensitization pain for each individual patient with chronic pain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Joint position sense error in people with neck pain: a systematic review
J. de Vries,J. de Vries,B. K. Ischebeck,Lennard Voogt,J.N. van der Geest,Malou Janssen,Maarten A. Frens,Maarten A. Frens,Gert-Jan Kleinrensink +8 more
TL;DR: Current literature shows theJPSE to be a relevant measure when it is used correctly, and all studies which calculated the JPSE over at least six trials showed a significantly increased JPSe in the neck pain group, which strongly suggests that 'number of repetitions' is a major element in correctly performing the J PSE test.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analgesic effects of manual therapy in patients with musculoskeletal pain: A systematic review
Lennard Voogt,Jurryt de Vries,Jurryt de Vries,Mira Meeus,Mira Meeus,Filip Struyf,Duncan E. Meuffels,Jo Nijs +7 more
TL;DR: Moderate evidence indicated that manual therapy increased local pressure pain thresholds in musculoskeletal pain, immediately following the intervention.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nociplastic Pain Criteria or Recognition of Central Sensitization? Pain Phenotyping in the Past, Present and Future.
Jo Nijs,Jo Nijs,Astrid Lahousse,Astrid Lahousse,Eleni Kapreli,Paraskevi Bilika,İsmail Saraçoğlu,Anneleen Malfliet,Anneleen Malfliet,Iris Coppieters,Liesbet De Baets,Laurence Leysen,Eva Roose,Jacqui R Clark,Lennard Voogt,Eva Huysmans,Eva Huysmans +16 more
TL;DR: The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) released clinical criteria and a grading system for nociplastic pain affecting the musculoskeletal system as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Psychological Distress and Widespread Pain Contribute to the Variance of the Central Sensitization Inventory: A Cross-Sectional Study in Patients with Chronic Pain.
Cornelis Paul Van Wilgen,Pieter J. Vuijk,Jeroen Kregel,Jeroen Kregel,Lennard Voogt,Lennard Voogt,Mira Meeus,Mira Meeus,Mira Meeus,Filip Descheemaeker,Doeke Keizer,Jo Nijs +11 more
TL;DR: The aim of this study was to examine the convergent validity of the CSI by comparing the outcome to psychosocial factors and clinical features of CS.
