Climate change and human health in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East: Literature review, research priorities and policy suggestions

TL;DR: In this article , the authors proposed several research priorities for the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East (EMME) region, including the generation of more empirical evidence on exposure-response functions involving climate change and specific health outcomes, the development of appropriate methodologies to evaluate the physical and psychological effects of climate change on vulnerable populations, determining how climate change alters the ecological determinants of human health, improving our understanding of the effects of long-term exposure to heat stress and air pollution, and evaluating the interactions between adaptation and mitigation strategies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Viral correlates of HIV-1 disease.

TL;DR: The present review article aims at providing the current state of knowledge as well as an in-depth critical discussion of recent developments on the potential effects of HIV subtype, phenotype and attenuation on HIV disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Near-full genome characterization of unclassified hepatitis C virus strains relating to genotypes 1 and 4.

TL;DR: The near‐full genome nucleotide sequences of unclassified HCV isolates provide reference sequences of variants unknown previously, and contribute to the publicly available HCV sequence data to be used for diagnosis or research.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molecular epidemiology of hepatitis C infection in Cyprus within the general population and high-risk cohorts.

TL;DR: The results of this study underline the impact of population movements and high-risk population groups on the changing molecular epidemiology of HCV, with strains moving to Europe from Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe by means of immigration and modern transmission routes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Export of infectious particles by Escherichia coli transfected with the RF DNA of Pf1, a virus of Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain K

TL;DR: The results imply that host factors affect not only the efficiency of virus assembly and export, but also the actual structures of the species exported.
