Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide association study identifies three novel genetic markers associated with elite endurance performance
Ildus I. Ahmetov,Nickolay A. Kulemin,Daniil V. Popov,Vladimir Naumov,Egor B. Akimov,Yan R. Bravy,Emiliya S. Egorova,Albina A Galeeva,Edward V. Generozov,Elena S. Kostryukova,Andrey K. Larin,Leysan J. Mustafina,Elena A. Ospanova,Alexander V. Pavlenko,Linda M. Starnes,Piotr Żmijewski,Dmitry G. Alexeev,Olga Vinogradova,Vadim M. Govorun +18 more
TL;DR: The data show that the NFIA-AS2 rs1572312, TSHR rs7144481 and RBFOX1 rs7191721 polymorphisms are associated with aerobic performance and elite endurance athlete status.
Journal ArticleDOI
The polygenic profile of Russian football players
Emiliya S. Egorova,Alyona V. Borisova,Leysan J. Mustafina,Alina A. Arkhipova,Rashid Gabbasov,Anastasiya M. Druzhevskaya,Irina V. Astratenkova,Ildus I. Ahmetov +7 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that the likelihood of becoming a football player depends on the carriage of a high number of “favourable” gene variants, as measured by the total genotype score.
Journal ArticleDOI
A common polymorphism of the MCT1 gene and athletic performance.
TL;DR: MCT1 gene A1470T polymorphism is associated with endurance athlete status and blood lactate level after intensive exercise.
Journal ArticleDOI
AGTR2 gene polymorphism is associated with muscle fibre composition, athletic status and aerobic performance
Leysan J. Mustafina,Vladimir Naumov,Paweł Cięszczyk,Daniil V. Popov,Ekaterina V. Lyubaeva,Elena S. Kostryukova,Olga N. Fedotovskaya,Anastasiya M. Druzhevskaya,Irina V. Astratenkova,Andrey S. Glotov,Dmitry G. Alexeev,Milyausha M. Mustafina,Emiliya S. Egorova,Agnieszka Maciejewska-Karlowska,Andrey K. Larin,Edward V. Generozov,Ruslan E. Nurullin,Zbigniew Jastrzębski,Nickolay A. TL;DR: It is shown that the AGTR2 rs11091046 C allele is associated with an increased proportion of slow‐twitch muscle fibres, endurance athlete status and aerobic performance, which has important implications for the understanding of muscle function in both health and disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
The -9/+9 polymorphism of the bradykinin receptor Beta 2 gene and athlete status: a study involving two European cohorts.
Marek Sawczuk,Yevgeniya I. Timshina,Irina V. Astratenkova,Agnieszka Maciejewska-Karlowska,Agata Leońska-Duniec,Krzysztof Ficek,Leysan J. Mustafina,Paweł Cięszczyk,Tomasz Klocek,Ildus I. Ahmetov +9 more
TL;DR: No association was found between the BDKRB2 -9/+9 polymorphism and elite athletic status in two cohorts of eastern European athletes.
