Self-induced light polarization rotation in azobenzene-containing polymers

TL;DR: In this article, a self-induced rotation of the azimuth of elliptically polarized light passing through photobirefringent azopolymers is reported, where the induced rotation angle depends on the ellipticity of the input light.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photoinduced anisotropy in a family of amorphous azobenzene polyesters for optical storage.

TL;DR: The results indicate that the long-term stability at ambient temperature is closely related to the thermal stability of the photoinduced birefringence and a strong correlation has also been found between the response time and the Stability of the induced anisotropy toward illumination with unpolarized white light.
Journal ArticleDOI

Light propagation through photoinduced chiral structures in azobenzene-containing polymers

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated light propagation through azobenzene-containing polymers with photoinduced chiral structures and showed that the structures have large pitch but the Mauguin condition is not fulfilled.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis, spectroscopic and TD-DFT quantum mechanical study of azo-azomethine dyes. A laser induced trans-cis-trans photoisomerization cycle.

TL;DR: This paper describes the synthesis, spectroscopic characterization and quantum mechanical calculations of three azo-azomethine dyes, synthesized via condensation reaction between 4-(dimethylamino)benzaldehyde and three different 4-aminobenzene azo dyes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Increase of photoinduced birefringence in a new type of anisotropic nanocomposite: azopolymer doped with ZnO nanoparticles

TL;DR: There is a significant increase of about 50% of the photoinduced birefringence in nanocomposite films of azopolymer doped with ZnO nanoparticles compared with samples made from nondoped azopolymers.
