Journal ArticleDOI
Possible Linkage between the Monsoon Trough Variability and the Tropical Cyclone Activity over the Western North Pacific
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of the monsoon trough (MT) on the interannual variability of tropical cyclone activity over the western North Pacific during July-November for the period 1979-2007 was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Advances in studying interactions between aerosols and monsoon in China
Guoxiong Wu,Zhanqing Li,Congbin Fu,XiaoYe Zhang,Renyi Zhang,Renhe Zhang,Tianjun Zhou,Tianjun Zhou,JianPing Li,JianPing Li,Jiandong Li,Degang Zhou,Liang Wu,LianTong Zhou,Bian He,Ronghui Huang +15 more
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors evaluated the impact of aerosols and the Asian monsoon climate on cloud physical properties and precipitation in China with aerosols likely suppressing local light and moderate rainfall, and intensifying heavy rainfall.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Two Types of El Niño on Tropical Cyclones over the Western North Pacific: Sensitivity to Location and Intensity of Pacific Warming
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the impact of various central Pacific (CP) and eastern Pacific (EP) warming on tropical cyclones (TCs) over the western North Pacific (WNP) for the period 1948-2015 based on observational and reanalysis data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interdecadal variation of tropical cyclone genesis and its relationship to the monsoon trough over the western North Pacific
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the recent interdecadal shift in tropical cyclone genesis over the western North Pacific (WNP) in the late 1990s, showing that the intensity of the WNP MT becomes weaker and it extends more westward, thereby providing an unfavourable condition for the TC genesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
ENSO-phase dependent TD and MRG wave activity in the western North Pacific
TL;DR: In this article, the three-dimensional structure and evolution characteristics of tropical depression and mixed Rossby-gravity wave (MRG) type disturbances in the tropical western North Pacific during El Nino and La Nina summers are investigated based on observational and reanalysis data.
