Moving Beyond the Hazard Ratio in Quantifying the Between-Group Difference in Survival Analysis
Hajime Uno,Brian Claggett,Lu Tian,Eisuke Inoue,Paul Gallo,Toshio Miyata,Deborah Schrag,Masahiro Takeuchi,Yoshiaki Uyama,Lihui Zhao,Hicham Skali,Scott D. Solomon,Susanna Jacobus,Michael Hughes,Milton Packer,Lee-Jen Wei +15 more
TL;DR: Critical concerns regarding this conventional practice of quantifying the underlying differences between groups with respect to a time-to-event end point are summarized and various well-known alternatives are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lifetime risk and years lived free of total cardiovascular disease
TL;DR: Lifetime risk estimates for total CVD were high for all individuals, even those with optimal risk factors in middle age, and maintenance of optimal risk factor levels inmiddle age was associated with substantially longer morbidity-free survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Home-Based Walking Exercise Intervention in Peripheral Artery Disease A Randomized Clinical Trial
Mary M. McDermott,Kiang Liu,Jack M. Guralnik,Michael H. Criqui,Bonnie Spring,Lu Tian,Kathryn Domanchuk,Luigi Ferrucci,Donald M. Lloyd-Jones,Melina R. Kibbe,Huimin Tao,Lihui Zhao,Yihua Liao,W. Jack Rejeski +13 more
TL;DR: A home-based walking exercise program significantly improved walking endurance, physical activity, and patient-perceived walking endurance and speed in PAD participants with and without classic claudication symptoms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Associations of Dietary Cholesterol or Egg Consumption With Incident Cardiovascular Disease and Mortality
Victor W. Zhong,Linda Van Horn,Marilyn C. Cornelis,John T. Wilkins,Hongyan Ning,Mercedes R. Carnethon,Philip Greenland,Robert J. Mentz,Robert J. Mentz,Katherine L. Tucker,Lihui Zhao,Arnita F. Norwood,Donald M. Lloyd-Jones,Norrina B. Allen +13 more
TL;DR: Among US adults, higher consumption of dietary cholesterol or eggs was significantly associated with higher risk of incident CVD and all-cause mortality in a dose-response manner and should be considered in the development of dietary guidelines and updates.
Journal ArticleDOI
On the restricted mean survival time curve in survival analysis.
Lihui Zhao,Brian Claggett,Lu Tian,Hajime Uno,Marc A. Pfeffer,Scott D. Solomon,Lorenzo Trippa,L. J. Wei +7 more
TL;DR: Inference, for instance, based on simultaneous confidence bands for a single RMST curve and also the difference between two RMST curves are proposed, which is informative for evaluating two groups under an equivalence or noninferiority setting, and quantifies the difference of two groups in a time scale.
