Regulating Ecosystem Services of forests in ten Italian Metropolitan Cities: Air quality improvement by PM10 and O3 removal

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors quantified the ecosystem service of particulate matter (PM 10 ) and Ozone (O 3 ) removal from urban and periurban forests in ten metropolitan cities in Italy, and its total monetary value.
Journal ArticleDOI

Regulating Ecosystem Services and Green Infrastructure: assessment of Urban Heat Island effect mitigation in the municipality of Rome, Italy

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the effect of vegetation cover and tree diversity on the provision of regulating ecosystem services (ES) in the Municipality of Rome, Italy, characterized by a complex territory and by a Mediterranean climate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impacts of air pollution on human and ecosystem health, and implications for the National Emission Ceilings Directive: Insights from Italy.

TL;DR: The results showed that SO42- deposition strongly decreased in all monitoring sites in Italy over the period 1999-2017, while NO3- and NH4+ decreased more slightly, and AOT40 (the metric identified to protect vegetation from ozone pollution) showed a decrease, even if values were still above the limit for forest protection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Plant stress analysis: Application of prompt, delayed chlorophyll fluorescence and 820 nm modulated reflectance. Insights from independent experiments

TL;DR: The Principal Component Analysis (PCA) suggests that the combination of PF and MR parameters represents a powerful tool for plant stress phenotyping, whereas MR parameters are linked to physiological strategies, related to different functional groups, to cope with stress factors.
