Journal ArticleDOI
Androgens Regulate Phosphodiesterase Type 5 Expression and Functional Activity in Corpora Cavernosa
Annamaria Morelli,Sandra Filippi,Rosa Mancina,Michaela Luconi,Linda Vignozzi,Mirca Marini,Claudio Orlando,Gabriella B. Vannelli,Antonio Aversa,Alessandro Natali,Gianni Forti,Mauro Giorgi,Emmanuele A. Jannini,Fabrizio Ledda,Mario Maggi +14 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated, for the first time, that androgens positively regulate PDE5, thus providing a possible explanation about the highest abundance of this enzyme in male genital tract.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis on the Use of Phosphodiesterase 5 Inhibitors Alone or in Combination with α-Blockers for Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms Due to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
Mauro Gacci,Giovanni Corona,Matteo Salvi,Linda Vignozzi,Kevin T. McVary,Steven A. Kaplan,Claus G. Roehrborn,Sergio Serni,Vincenzo Mirone,Marco Carini,Mario Maggi +10 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that PDE5-Is can significantly improve LUTS and erectile function in men with BPH and seem to be a promising treatment option for patients with LUTs secondary to BPH with or without ED.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low testosterone levels predict clinical adverse outcomes in SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia patients.
Giulia Rastrelli,Vincenza Di Stasi,Francesco Inglese,Massimiliano Beccaria,Martina Garuti,Domenica Di Costanzo,Fabio Spreafico,Graziana Francesca Greco,Giulia Cervi,Antonietta Pecoriello,A. Magini,Tommaso Todisco,Sarah Cipriani,Elisa Maseroli,Giovanni Corona,Andrea Salonia,Andrea Lenzi,Mario Maggi,Giuseppe De Donno,Linda Vignozzi +19 more
TL;DR: The pandemic of new severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars) due to coronavirus (CoV) 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) has stressed the importance of effective diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers of clinical worsening and mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development and validation of a 6-item version of the female sexual function index (FSFI) as a diagnostic tool for female sexual dysfunction.
Andrea M. Isidori,Carlotta Pozza,Katherine Esposito,Katherine Esposito,Dario Giugliano,Dario Giugliano,Susanna Morano,Susanna Morano,Linda Vignozzi,Linda Vignozzi,Giovanni Corona,Giovanni Corona,Andrea Lenzi,Emmanuele A. Jannini,Emmanuele A. Jannini +14 more
TL;DR: The abridged FSFI-6 is a novel tool that can help any doctor to disclose FSD rapidly and efficiently and is a valuable tool for screening women that are likely to suffer from FSD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization and Functional Role of Androgen-Dependent PDE5 Activity in the Bladder
Sandra Filippi,Annamaria Morelli,Peter Sandner,Benedetta Fibbi,Rosa Mancina,Mirca Marini,Mauro Gacci,Linda Vignozzi,Gabriella B. Vannelli,Marco Carini,Gianni Forti,Mario Maggi +11 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that PDE5 regulates bladder smooth muscle tone, strongly limiting the nitric oxide/cGMP signaling, and that vardenafil, by blocking PDE 5, may be a possible therapeutic option for bladder dysfunction by ameliorating irritative lower urinary tract symptoms.
