Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of SARS2 Nsp15 nuclease activity reveals it's mad about U.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used cryo-EM to capture structures of Nsp15 bound to RNA in pre-and post-cleavage states, and determined how the sequence of the RNA substrate dictates cleavage and found that outside of polyU tracts, nsp15 has a strong preference for purines 3' of the cleaved uridine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural basis of NPR1 in activating plant immunity

TL;DR: In this paper , the structure of NPR1 and its complex with the transcription factor TGA3 was analyzed using Cryo-electron microscopy and crystal structure analysis, which revealed a unique zinc-finger motif in BTB for interacting with ankyrin repeats and mediating NPR1 oligomerization, providing a structural explanation for a direct role of salicylic acid in regulating NPR1dependent gene expression.
