Journal ArticleDOI
A current update on ADHD pharmacogenomics.
TL;DR: Additional studies are required to allow for a shift from a trial-and-error approach to a more rational pharmacologic regimen that takes into account the likelihood of treatment effectiveness at the individual level.
Journal ArticleDOI
No significant association between response to methylphenidate and genes of the dopaminergic and serotonergic systems in a sample of Brazilian children with attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder
Cristian Patrick Zeni,Ana P. Guimarães,Guilherme V. Polanczyk,Julia P. Genro,Tatiana Roman,Mara H. Hutz,Luis Augusto Rohde +6 more
TL;DR: Assessment of effects of polymorphisms in candidate dopaminergic and serotonergic genes on the response to treatment in 111 patients for whom methylphenidate (MPH) was prescribed found no significant association was detected.
Journal ArticleDOI
Worldwide child and adolescent mental health begins with awareness: A preliminary assessment in nine countries
Christina W. Hoven,Thao Doan,George J. Musa,Tea Jaliashvili,Cristiane S. Duarte,Emilio Ovuga,Fuad Ismayilov,Luis Augusto Rohde,Tatjana Dmitrieva,Yasong Du,Maruke Yeghiyan,Amira Seif El Din,Alan Apter,Donald J. Mandell,Wpa Awareness Task Force +14 more
TL;DR: In the six sites that completed all assessments, indicators of positive change in awareness of child mental health were identified, and results demonstrated an increased willingness to discuss emotional problems freely, support the utility of collaborating with schools so as to foster better childmental health in such under-resourced communities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polygenic Risk Score for Alzheimer's Disease: Implications for Memory Performance and Hippocampal Volumes in Early Life.
Luiza Kvitko Axelrud,Marcos L. Santoro,Daniel S. Pine,Fernanda Talarico,Ary Gadelha,Gisele Gus Manfro,Pedro Mario Pan,Andrea Parolin Jackowski,Felipe Almeida Picon,Elisa Brietzke,Rodrigo Grassi-Oliveira,Rodrigo A. Bressan,Euripedes Constantino Miguel,Luis Augusto Rohde,Hakon Hakonarson,Zdenka Pausova,Sintia Iole Belangero,Tomáš Paus,Giovanni Abrahão Salum +18 more
TL;DR: Genetic risk for Alzheimer's disease may affect early-life cognition and hippocampal volumes, as shown in two independent samples, which support previous evidence that some forms of late-life dementia may represent developmental conditions with roots in childhood.
Journal ArticleDOI
A common haplotype at the dopamine transporter gene 5′ region is associated with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder†
Julia P. Genro,Guilherme V. Polanczyk,Cristian Patrick Zeni,Angélica Salatino de Oliveira,Tatiana Roman,Luis Augusto Rohde,Mara H. Hutz +6 more
TL;DR: A role for the promoter region in ADHD susceptibility is suggested and that allele heterogeneity should be highly considered in DAT1 gene association studies highlighting the importance of this gene in the genetics of the disorder.
