Current climate, but also long‐term climate changes and human impacts, determine the geographic distribution of European mammal diversity
Ana M. C. Santos,Marcus Vinicius Cianciaruso,Ana Márcia Barbosa,Luis Mauricio Bini,José Alexandre Felizola Diniz-Filho,Frederico V. Faleiro,Sidney F. Gouveia,Rafael Loyola,Nagore G. Medina,Thiago F. Rangel,Geiziane Tessarolo,Joaquín Hortal,Joaquín Hortal +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present tools to unify range dynamics and community-level processes into a single analytical framework to predict diversity variations across scales through process-based models linking com-munity ecology and biogeography.
Journal ArticleDOI
Higher Taxa Predict Plankton Beta-diversity Patterns Across an Eutrophication Gradient
Fernanda Melo Carneiro,João Carlos Nabout,Ludgero Cardoso Galli Vieira,Sara Lodi,Luis Mauricio Bini +4 more
TL;DR: The use of higher taxa appears to be advisable for phytoplankton and zooplankon based assessments of eutrophication in urban lakes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Competitive Effects Hinder the Recolonization of Native Species in Environments Densely Occupied by One Invasive Exotic Species
TL;DR: The results indicate that native species exhibit different strategies of biomass allocation when interacting with U. arrecta and the different responses of the native species help to explain the reduced diversity of native macrophytes observed in sites colonized by U. Arrecta.
Spatial autocorrelation and red herrings in geographical
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the species richness of the birds of western/central Europe, north Africa and the Middle East using Moran's I coefficients and multiple regression, using both ordinary least-squares (OLS) and generalized least squares (GLS) assuming a spatial struc- ture in the residuals, were used to identify the strongest predictors of richness.
Journal ArticleDOI
Do traditional scientometric indicators predict social media activity on scientific knowledge? An analysis of the ecological literature
João Carlos Nabout,Fabrício Barreto Teresa,Karine Borges Machado,Vitor Hugo Mendonça do Prado,Luis Mauricio Bini,José Alexandre Felizola Diniz-Filho +5 more
TL;DR: This work used multivariate models to evaluate the relative influence of collaboration, time since publication and traditional indicators on the interest of 2863 papers published in five ecological journals from 2013 to 2015 and indicates that traditional indicators explained most of the variation in OnSMP activity.
